It does not take into account the very complex and multi-facet aspects of the EU and EU membership. According to Rosamond: "there is no single essence of the EU. It is a form of complex multi-level governance that has inscribed within it a number of potentially contradictory and/or overlapping logics, projects and value systems. The real question that Europeans need to face up to is not whether there should or shouldn’t be an EU, but rather what kind of EU should there be?" Read the whole article here.
